Director of (eCommerce) Marketing

The Company

We are Panda Planner; we create tools that help people leverage the scientific research from positive psychology and neuroscience so they can be happier, more productive and live more fulfilled lives.

Our flagship product, the Panda Planner, is an elegant system for prioritizing your daily tasks that helps you get more done in less time and gradually shift your outlook from negative to positive. When performed consistently, productivity and optimism become automatic. We are proud of what our product does for others… and our new Director of Marketing should share that same passion.

Founded by our CEO, Michael Leip, who found himself bedridden and miserable after suffering a series of health events including Lyme Disease and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and cancer. He became fed up with his condition and was determined to get back on track. After reading countless books and peer reviewed journals, Michael created a system that ultimately became the Panda Planner.

The Culture

We are a small team of happy, passionate people who know how to hustle. As an early stage startup working remotely, we have a laid back approach and a great deal of autonomy because we know when it's time for fun and when to get shit done. We don't care when you work, but we have high standards for making sure the work gets done.

Does it excite you to be part of a company that creates more happiness, gratitude, and productivity in people's lives? Do you want to join an early stage startup that has limitless potential for growth?  In just two years, we've sold over 150,000 planners with over $5million in revenue.

How often do you get an opportunity to work for a company where our financial growth is directly correlated to how much positive impact we're making on the world?  The more products we sell, the more people we help; it's awesome! If any of this resonates with you....then heck yeah, come work with us at Panda Planner!

The Job

We are seeking an experienced Director of Marketing to help Panda Planner continue its rapid growth. This person should have an entrepreneurial, independent, growth focused, “let’s go get ‘em” attitude.

We believe resumes are bogus and experience speaks for itself. Knowing how to manage a monthly media budget, while smashing your CPA targets, and pulling off killer influencer relationships is the type of person we’re looking for.

Ultimately, success at Panda Planner comes down to your habits and DNA.

Your job will be to lead our efforts for increasing revenue and growth.... this includes building and optimizing Facebook ad campaigns, building new sales funnels, and working with our content team to write more engaging articles that will give value to our audience.

You’ll be given equity in the company so we expect you to run our marketing department like you own the company (because you do).  You should be highly organized, data driven and extremely motivated to learn everything you can about marketing and apply the best tactics.  Plus, we’re a small team at an early stage startup, so you will likely be asked to do something completely unrelated from time to time; we all gotta wear a lot of hats!

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Customer acquisition for Panda Planner. You should understand how to advertise on platforms like Facebook, Google, YouTube or at least have the ability to set strategy and outsource to an agency. You feel comfortable managing a big media budget and want to stay “up to date” on new strategies for eCommerce customer acquisition. You’re also thinking of new ways to acquire customers… like reaching out to influencers or hoping on new organic strategies.
  1. Monetizing our current customer base. Our product is something that people love to buy AGAIN. You will create strategy for how we can encourage repeat buyers through email marketing, retargeting, and maybe even direct mail? You’re able to create campaigns, like a flash sale, to get people to come back and buy… again :).
  1. Optimizing and creating new funnels. Funnels are the lifeblood of our business. It’s how we acquire and monetize customers. You’re able to set funnel strategy and optimize our current funnels to increase conversion rates.
  1. Manage our shopify store. We use Shopify as our eCommerce platform. You’re familiar with this software or are willing to learn it, quickly :).
  1. Understanding of content marketing. You wno’t be responsible for creating the content, but you know how important content marketing is in the current digital marketing climate. You’re able to work with the content team to create pieces that resonate with the audience, allow you to pixel users, and retarget for customer acquisition.
  1. GROWTH. YOU are the eCommerce marketing expert. We will be here to support you and show you what has worked in the past, but ultimately… you know how to grow an eCommerce business through on and offline marketing. We are looking for someone who truly knows their stuff and is wanting to apply their skills to a heartfelt, fast growing business.

The Required Skills:

  • Data nerd - you must be super organized when it comes to collecting and analyzing data. All sales data will be your responsibility so you will be held accountable to keep the rest of the team up to date on our metrics
  • A few years of experience managing Facebook Ad campaigns (you know Power Editor inside and out), and/or adwords or similar PPC platform.
  • Experience with direct response marketing
  • Decent understanding of persuasive/sales copywriting
  • Substantial experience with split testing
  • Experience managing multiple profitable sales funnels
  • You understand what it takes to optimize conversion rate at different points in a sales funnel
  • Highly organized
  • Driven- The people we like to work with don't need to be handheld through their days, they can take initiative and tackle large projects on their own. They are motivated and excited to help move the company towards its goals!

What To Do Now:

You’re probably sitting there thinking to yourself, “well it’s about darn time I found my dream job”.  And I agree….it IS about time, so let’s not waste any more time not working together. Here’s what we need you to do…

  1. Go to www.pandaplanner.com and take a look around at what we’re currently doing on our site.
  2. Make a quick list of 5 things you’d change about our site to increase conversions and provide a better experience for users --- and WHY!
  3. Email molly@pandaplanner.com with your list of 5 things, your resume, and a quick cover letter of why you think you’d be a perfect fit.
  4. We’ll get back to you on next steps.
